Demopolis Is Located In Marengo County Of West Central Alabama

Demopolis Lake is the largest lake in the Black Warrior-Tombigbee system. It extends 48 miles
up river on the Black Warrior and 53 miles up
the Tombigbee and covers some 10,000 acres.
Two modern campgrounds and many day use facilities, as well as primitive camping areas,
are available. There is also a full service
marina at Demopolis.
   
The region around Demopolis Lake offers
excellent hunting. The Corps manages 1,400
acres for public hunting and leases another 6,400 acres to the Alabama Department of Conservation for a state wildlife management area.
